Terms of Use

OFALycee.org & Associated Platforms

Effective Date: February 16, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of:

  • www.ofalycee.org (the “Website”)
  • OFALycée’s digital services, including:
    • student and parent portals
    • scheduling system
    • Student Information System (SIS)
    • learning platforms (Canvas LMS, Zoom)
    • OFA Academy and related services (collectively, the “Services”)

By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. OFALycée serves students aged approximately 5 to 18, so additional rules apply to protect minors and create a safe learning environment.

1. About OFALycée

OFALycée is an accredited online school offering bilingual and international educational programs combining elements of the French and American education systems. The Services provide:

  • Academic instruction
  • Enrollment and scheduling tools
  • Student data management
  • Communication tools
  • Educational resources

2. Eligibility and Parental Consent

  • If you are 18 years or older, you may use the Services independently.
  • If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • If you are under 13 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must provide verifiable consent for the collection and use of personal information, in accordance with applicable law including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors’ use of the Services and for the use of any account created for them.

3. Description of Services

OFALycée provides:

  • Online courses and academic programs
  • Scheduling and class selection tools
  • Student records and reporting (SIS)
  • Webinars, events, and communications
  • Access to third-party learning platforms (e.g. Canvas, Zoom)

The Website is informational and operational; instructional content is hosted on dedicated learning platforms.

4. User Accounts and Security

Users may be required to create accounts. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Maintain confidentiality of login credentials and never share them with another person
  • Notify OFALycée promptly of any unauthorised access or suspected breach
  • Use a strong, unique password

Parents/guardians are responsible for accounts created for minors.

5. Code of Conduct in Online Classrooms

Because our classes bring together minors of various ages, every participant agrees to behave respectfully. Students, parents and staff must:

  • Treat every participant with kindness and respect, regardless of background, language, identity or beliefs;
  • Use age-appropriate, non-offensive language;
  • Keep cameras and microphones used only for legitimate educational purposes;
  • Not capture, screenshot, record or redistribute live classes, classmates or staff without explicit authorisation;
  • Not share inappropriate, violent, sexual, hateful or discriminatory content in any classroom, chat, document or shared space;
  • Respect the teacher’s instructions and the learning environment.

Violations may result in warnings, suspension or removal from the program.

6. Anti-Bullying & Anti-Harassment

OFALycée has zero tolerance for bullying, cyberbullying, harassment or discrimination of any kind, whether directed at students, families or staff. This includes:

  • Insults, threats, intimidation or humiliating remarks (in class, chat, email or any communication channel);
  • Targeted exclusion or coordinated negative behaviour against a student;
  • Sharing private images, videos, voice clips or messages of another student without consent;
  • Discrimination based on origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or any protected characteristic.

Any concern can be reported confidentially to contact@ofalycee.org. Reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly.

7. Communication Channels

To protect both students and staff, communications follow these principles:

  • Primary channels: staff communicate with students through official OFALycée channels — school email, Canvas messaging and scheduled Zoom classes.
  • High-school messaging apps: for high-school students, complementary channels such as WhatsApp may be used for class-related communication (e.g. group reminders, homework clarifications, schedule changes). When such channels are used:
    • communications stay strictly related to school topics;
    • group conversations are preferred over private one-to-one messages whenever possible;
    • professional conduct and the Code of Conduct above apply to every message;
    • parents/guardians may, on request, be informed of the channels used and the topics covered, and may ask that their child be reached only through official channels.
  • Personal social media: staff do not engage with students through personal social-media accounts (e.g. personal Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat).
  • Records: any non-routine matter (academic, disciplinary, well-being) is documented and, where appropriate, reflected in official platforms so that families remain informed.

8. Class Recordings

Live classes are not systematically recorded. On request (for example, when a student misses a session for a legitimate reason), a class may be recorded via Zoom and shared inside the relevant Canvas course. Recordings are:

  • accessible only to enrolled students and authorised staff of that course;
  • retained for the duration reasonably needed for academic use and then deleted;
  • never published outside the Services without explicit parental consent.

Students agree not to download, redistribute or repost classroom recordings.

9. Educational Disclaimer

OFALycée provides educational instruction and guidance but does not guarantee:

  • Admission to universities or schools
  • Recognition of coursework or diplomas in all jurisdictions
  • Specific academic or professional outcomes

Educational outcomes depend on student performance and external institutional requirements.

10. International Education Context

OFALycée operates across multiple countries and educational systems. Recognition of courses, credits, or diplomas may vary depending on country, institution and regulatory framework. Users are responsible for verifying requirements with relevant institutions.

11. Intellectual Property

All content and materials — including courses, videos, curriculum, documents and branding — are owned by OFALycée or licensed to it. You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce or distribute content;
  • Modify or create derivative works;
  • Use content commercially without prior written consent.

12. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services unlawfully;
  • Attempt to access restricted systems, accounts or areas (e.g. the Parents Area, SIS, other students’ accounts);
  • Interfere with platform functionality (e.g. denial-of-service, scraping at scale, attempted intrusion);
  • Upload harmful, abusive or inappropriate content;
  • Use the Services to bully, intimidate or harm another person.

OFALycée may suspend or terminate access for violations and, where appropriate, refer matters to competent authorities.

13. Academic Integrity

Students must adhere to academic integrity standards. Prohibited conduct includes plagiarism, unauthorised collaboration, and misrepresentation of work. Violations may result in disciplinary action.

14. Artificial Intelligence

OFALycée does not currently deploy third-party generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, etc.) directly with students as part of its instruction. Students must:

  • Not submit AI-generated work as their own unless explicitly authorised by their teacher;
  • Clearly disclose any permitted AI assistance.

15. Privacy & Data Protection

Use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy. OFALycée processes personal data in accordance with applicable laws, including U.S. data protection laws (COPPA, FERPA, CCPA / CPRA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / GDPR-K). Data may be processed and stored across jurisdictions with appropriate safeguards.

16. Student Information System (SIS) and Data Use

OFALycée maintains a Student Information System (SIS) that may include student academic records, personal identification data, contact information and enrollment data. Access is restricted to authorised users (staff, parents, students as appropriate). Users agree:

  • Not to misuse or share sensitive data;
  • To respect the confidentiality of all student information.

17. Scheduling System and Enrollment Tools

Users acknowledge that course availability may be limited, that class placement is not guaranteed until confirmed, and that scheduling data may be transferred to internal systems (SIS, CRM). Parents and students are responsible for reviewing selections before deadlines.

18. Third-Party Services

OFALycée uses third-party platforms, including Canvas LMS, Zoom, HubSpot, Acuity Scheduling, Resend, Google Analytics 4 and our hosting providers. These services are governed by their own terms and policies. OFALycée is not responsible for outages, data-handling practices or service interruptions of third-party providers, but selects them with due diligence.

19. Payments and Enrollment

Enrollment and tuition payments are governed by separate agreements and policies. By enrolling, you agree to applicable tuition fees, payment schedules and refund policies.

20. Mandatory Reporting

OFALycée staff comply with applicable mandatory reporting obligations under Massachusetts law (M.G.L. c. 119, § 51A) and equivalent statutes where they reside, when there is reasonable cause to believe a child has been abused or neglected.

21. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OFALycée shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages, data loss or service interruptions, or failures of third-party services.

22. Termination

OFALycée may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated, misuse occurs (including breaches of the Code of Conduct or Anti-Bullying provisions), or payment obligations are not met.

23. Modifications

OFALycée may update these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be posted with a new effective date. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance.

24. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States.
