Online French-American School – The OFA Lycée Model

A school designed for international mobility

The reference

One learning journey. Two systems. One international recognition.

OFA Lycée is the first school to have built an educational model in which learning is fully recognized within two school systems at once. Our programs are designed so that every skill acquired in English fulfills the requirements of the official French Éducation nationale curriculum, and every skill acquired in French fulfills those of the Cognia-accredited American curriculum.

This unique pedagogical architecture, grounded in a threefold institutional foundation — French Éducation nationale, Cognia accreditation, and ANEFE membership — makes OFA Lycée the reference in online bilingual and bicultural education for international French-speaking families.

OFA Lycée is a 100% online French school offering families around the world a rigorous French education, from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Our model was designed to address a concrete need: to guarantee the continuity and quality of a French education at a distance, wherever the family lives.

We offer two distinct pedagogical pathways, tailored to each family's project:

➜The Éducation nationale pathway

It fully follows the official French national curriculum, preparing students for the Brevet des collèges and the French Baccalauréat, with the same academic value as a school in France and French schools abroad (lycées français de l'étranger). This is the reference pathway for families who want to preserve direct equivalency with the French school system.

➜The OFA Lycée pathway

Designed by our pedagogical team, this pathway offers a more flexible and personalized framework. It allows students to progress at their own pace while benefiting from an excellent French education. It can lead to the OFA Lycée Diploma, with optional DELF/DALF certifications, and is particularly well-suited to students with an international project, an atypical rhythm (elite athletes, performing arts…), or a non-linear academic path.

Whichever pathway is chosen, our pedagogy rests on three unique pillars: live classes in small groups (4 to 8 students maximum) with certified teachers, individualized follow-up by our academic team, and schedule flexibility for families living across multiple time zones.

Every student experiences a true school setting — this is not a library of recorded lectures, but a real distance school, with its teachers, its classroom life, its assessments, its trimester report cards, its parent-teacher conferences, and special attention paid to the well-being and socio-emotional growth of each student.

OFA Lycée is Cognia-accredited — an international benchmark — and its curriculum is aligned with the requirements of the French Éducation nationale.

The unique features of our model:

  • Cognia-accredited online French school
  • two pathways: Éducation nationale and OFA Lycée
  • live classes in very small groups (4 to 8 students)
  • certified French Éducation nationale teachers
  • personalized follow-up by an academic advisor
  • geographic and schedule flexibility
  • socio-emotional and student well-being approach
  • preparation for the Brevet and French Baccalauréat
  • optional OFA Lycée Diploma and DELF/DALF certifications
  • post-Bac guidance (Parcoursup, international universities)

Discover how our two pathways allow every French-speaking family to pursue an excellent French education, tailored to their project and life rhythm.

A one-of-a-kind model

Simultaneous dual schooling — with no equivalent worldwide

What makes OFA Lycée absolutely unique: our students are enrolled in two schools at the same time. They simultaneously follow two complete curricula — the French program at OFA Lycée and an American, British, Canadian, or international curriculum (local school, American homeschool, international school…) — and both systems fully recognize their work.

This simultaneous dual-schooling model was unprecedented at our first opening in 2020, and remains without equivalent today. It allows every student to:

  • validate two academic tracks at once (French + American / British / Canadian / other)
  • earn up to two recognized diplomas (French Baccalauréat + High School Diploma)
  • apply simultaneously to French, American, British, Canadian, and European universities
  • keep all options open until the final year

This unique architecture — built since 2019 by our team — explains why our alumni are accepted at Sciences Po as well as Cambridge, McGill as well as Northwestern, CentraleSupélec as well as Bocconi. They never had to choose: they grew up in both systems.

The OFA Lycée Model

Designed for international mobility

OFA Lycée is a French school offering complementary education to the American system. Students join OFA Lycée classes online after their local school day.

Progressive schooling, from kindergarten to senior year

The OFA Lycée model offers families continuity in French education wherever they live.

Course and program choices become more defined through high school, based on student development, language level, and family goals.

Recognize achievements without duplicating learning

OFA Lycée analyzes content and methods in both school systems to reinforce and complement existing knowledge.

This recognition is based on rigorous academic evaluation. Example: 75% of the middle school math program is shared between both systems; OFA Lycée focuses on the French approach and subject-specific content.

An organization compatible with international families' reality

The model is designed to adapt to the concrete reality of families living internationally.

It takes into account: changes in country or school system, differences in calendars and rhythms, and linguistic and cultural differences. This organization allows students to continue their education with continuity, even when moving geographically.

An accredited and internationally recognized institution

OFA Lycée has been Cognia-accredited since 2022 and is a member of ANEFE, which unites French schools internationally.

Cognia accreditation, recognized in over 100 countries, guarantees a continuous commitment to educational quality improvement. ANEFE membership places OFA Lycée within the institutional reflection on the evolution of French education internationally, student mobility, and educational continuity.
